About

Jim Horn was introduced into construction as he built and sold his first house in his high school construction class and learned to operate a backhoe at one of his first jobs.  After serving in the Military and finishing his schooling, Jim entered back into the construction field; excavating for residential homes in the early 90′s and eventually working in all aspects of the new home construction process.  As the economy took a downturn, he moved into commercial excavating for several years doing site work on schools, multi-family housing and large stores or strip malls.  In 2000, he founded Double J Construction Inc, and has been performing excavation and renovation projects for homeowners and small business owners ever since.

After over 15 years in the insurance industry, Shawnda joined him in this endeavor and facilitates the marketing for the organization, including these blog posts.

Jim received his Certified Remodeler designation in 2009 through the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)  and is currently a member of the Oregon City Toastmasters organization.  Shawnda serves on the board of the Oregon Remodelers Association/NARI of Greater Portland and is involved in the Oregon City Chamber and North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce as well as Good Morning Damascus

Double J Construction Inc serves Clackamas, Washington, Multnomah and Clark Counties in residential and small commercial excavation and renovation.

  1. Hi Jim and Shawnda!
I’d like to subscribe to your blog by email… but I’m not seeing the option button.
    All the best,
    Ragan

    • For some reason, I’m just seeing this. My web developer is currently changing our website to WordPress, so hopefully it will be live before the end of the month. Then the blog will be setup properly, I’m sure.

      Hope you’re doing well!

      Shawnda
